Before we can proceed we need to make some assumptions:



In reality, lines and amplitudes are essentially different, however, in the interest of simplicity we shall assume that lines and amplitudes are one and the same.


In reality, angles and rotations are essentially different, however, in the interest of simplicity we shall assume that angles and rotations are one and the same.


We shall assume that amplitudes are measured along the positive real line.


We shall assume that rotations are measured anticlockwise from the positive real line.
